Living in Toronto, I definitely benefit from its various food festivals every summer.

And so, without any exceptions, I also attended several ones this year.

Just last weekend, I went to Waterfront Night Market and Sweetery. 😃 (These don't require a ticket. It's free entry, but you might have to pay for parking)

I decided to write some reviews on what I had and what was delicious, so you guys can rely on it next year or visit their restaurants.

Feel free to leave comments on the ones you liked or are interested in that I missed. 😘

Waterfront Night Market

I am a huge fan of Asian food, so I definitely won't miss this Asian street food event.

Last year it was held across the street to T&T on Cherry St. This year it was moved to Hearn Generating Station, which is also not far from T&T.

1. Lamb Skewers - 2/$10

There was a handful of lamb skewers to choose from at the festival, but this is the best lamb skewer I ever had in Toronto!

The meat is so smooth, and the sauce on it helps you taste the lamb even better!

(Make sure to get the spicy ones! It's not too spicy, and has a perfect amount of heat!)

This is also the closest one I had in Toronto that compares with the ones in China.

And yep! I went back the second day just to try it again! 😋

Unfortunately they don't have a restaurant yet, but they do show up every year in various Asian food festival (e.g. Taste of Asia, Night Market...)

2. Squid Skewers - $10

The second star of the festival is another skewer! - Squid Skewer

It's very juicy, and the sauce just intensifies the texture of the squid.

My strategy for food festival is - always go with the crowd.😉

This one and the previous one had the longest line in the whole night market, so I knew it must be good.

3. Smelly Tofu - $12

The first time I went, there was a loooooong line in front of smelly tofu, so I had to come back the second day to try it.

I was debating between Taiwan and Hong Kong Style, and chose the Hong Kong style since that's what I am more used to.

Don't get intimidated by the smell of it. Good smelly tofu is supposed to be only smelly when you are not eating it.

The one I had did its job.☺️

It's not as good as the ones in China, but if you are craving this, it's good that Toronto can provide it!

3. Thai Fried Oyster Pancake $10

It's actually my first time trying Thai Fried Oyster Pancake. All I had before was Taiwan style Fried Oyster Pancake.

Surprisingly, this one had a generous amount of oysters in it, which made me feel that my $10 was not wasted!

( one thing I don't quite like the food festival is that everything is overpriced )

I didn't really enjoy the pancake part ( I think the bite I had was not cooked...😥)

Other than that, it's ok and worth trying!

4. Ohh Bubble Tea... - ~$5

There were more than what I am showing here, but I didn't take pictures of all of them.

Who else is obsessed with Bubble (or Boba, whatever you call it) Tea? 🙋🙋‍♂️

I know I totally am.

I tried out so many bubble tea places in Toronto that I will need another article to write about it.

This time, I tried the last one in the pictures, as well as their Taiwanese wheel Cake.

Taiwanese wheel Cake was a hit last year, but I didn't get to try it.

This year I finally did. The outside tastes very much like egg puff, with soft red bean paste inside.

What I liked about it is that it's not very sweet so you can taste the original flavour of the red bean.

I am not a fan of super sweet desserts, especially when I am trying to keep a diet nowadays.

So I am glad that I chose this one as the only dessert I tried at night market.

5. Other interesting food stands

These are all other places I found interesting but didn't get to try (especially the unicorn Thai ice tea!😍)

They all had decent lines ( not as long as the top 2 I recommended), so I am pretty sure they are also good!

Sweetery

Sweetery is Toronto's largest Sweets Festival and it's its 3rd year appearance.

I am not a big fan of desserts, but I do enjoy admiring well-made desserts.

Look what I found!

1. Daan Go Cake Lab

This little box of macarons was definitely a shining star of the event.

I only stood in front of the booth for maybe 2 mins, and there were a lot of people either buying it or taking picture of it.

They are just sooooo cute!

I think they would make perfect cute gift for a friend.

Opening up a store soon in Toronto

1. Teavana

Teavana is the tea chain of Starbucks.

I love tea as much as I love coffee, so when I heard about Teavana, I actually bought a lot from it using my Starbucks card.

They make really nice organic herbal tea if caffeine is what worries you. ( I am also trying to cut down my consumption of caffeine)

This time I tried their strawberry green tea, and it's soooooo good!

Before having it, I was thinking to myself: it's weird to put strawberry into green tea.

However, it blends the strawberry and green tea perfectly.

If you haven't tried it, definitely visit Teavana and get yourself one. You won't regret it!
